Ausrüstung: EachMoment custom-built wet gate 4K cine scanner — the same scanner Warner Bros. trusted with their own cine film archive. Thorough ultrasonic cleaning before every reel.
8mm film restoration starts with a manual inspection of every reel. We check the leader, the tail, the splice integrity, the sprocket hole condition, and the overall flexibility of the film. Reels with vinegar syndrome get assessed for whether they can still pass through a scanner safely.
Every reel then goes through thorough ultrasonic cleaning — a full ultrasonic bath that strips away decades of embedded dust, fingerprints, and surface contamination. After cleaning, the film is wet gate scanned on our custom-built cine scanner — the same one Warner Bros. trusted with their own film archive. The film passes through a liquid bath during scanning that fills surface scratches by matching the refractive index of the film base. This combination of ultrasonic cleaning + wet gate scanning produces the cleanest possible capture from any cine film.
8mm was usually shot at 16 frames per second. Modern displays run at 24 or 30 fps, which causes flicker and stutter when 16fps footage is shown directly. Our software interpolates intermediate frames to smooth motion playback while preserving the original 16fps timing reference.
Post-scan, we correct the magenta colour shift on Kodachrome, rebalance saturation and contrast, and remove dust spots and scratches that can be cleaned up automatically. AI enhancement is available as an add-on for additional detail recovery.
Ultrasonic cleaning, wet gate 4K scanning, splice repair, colour correction, and frame interpolation are all included as standard. We don't charge extra for "magenta shift correction" or "dust removal".
